Mommy and Me Weekly Activities
Week of February 12th
The morning began with free play followed by a prayer and story. We read the book “Animal Homes” by Betsey Chessen. The children went upstairs to the classroom to do a Valentine Activity. The children glued a red heart onto a large black heart and put Valentine stickers on the red heart. Skill=small motor. After the activity, the children played and then had a snack. When snack time was over, the children went to the bike room for large motor development.
Week of February 5th
The morning began with free play followed by our Prayer time. The children then listend to the story “Tiny the Snow Dog” by Cari Meister. After story we went upstairs to do a project where the children glued blue strips of paper to make a snowflake shape. Then they put white paint onto the snowflake. The children had free play and snack. After snack the children played in the bike room for large motor development.
Week of January 29th
The morning began with a prayer and a story. We read the book, “Winter Is Here!” by Kimberly Weinberger. After story we went upstairs to do a math activity. The children match the correct number of legos to the card numbers 1,2 and 3 placed on the table. The skill learned was fine motor and counting. The children then had free play followed by snack. The final activity was for large motor in the bike room.
Week of January 22nd
The morning began with a prayer and then a story. We read “Flip and Flop” by Dawn Apperley. After prayer, the children went upstairs to do a project. They worked with glitter glue and squeezed glue onto black construction paper to make different designs. The goal was to learn to use art projects correctly.
The children had free play next followed by snack. After snack, they went to the bike room for large motor play.
Week of January 8th
This morning started with a prayer and then we read the story, “The Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats. After story time, the children went to the classroom to do the letter “A”. They dot painted a large letter “A” and then dot painted a picture of an apple. The children then had free play followed by snack time. After these activities, the children went to the bike room for large motor activity.
Week of December 4th

Week of November 27th
The children said a prayer and listened to a story “From Head to Toe” by Eric Carle. The children did a science activity about plants. They observed four different plants and noticed that the leaves were all different shapes and textures. They learned about the three main parts of a plant and colored a picture showing leaves, stems and roots. After the class activity, the children had free play and then snack. The last activity was to play in the bike room to help them develop their large motor skills. Classes will resume in January.
Week of November 20th
The Mommy and Me Class is off this week. Their last class for this session is November 27th.
Week of November 13th
The morning began with a prayer. We then read a story, “Thanksgiving Is for Giving Thanks” by Margaret Sutherland. After story time, the children did an activity where they colored turkeys made from hand tracings. When they finished coloring, the children had free play followed by snack time. After snack, we went to the bike room to play with scooters and bikes.
Week of November 6th
The morning begins with a prayer. We read a story: A Children’s Zoo by Tan Hoban. After prayer the children did an activity on shapes – squares and circles. They matched but out shapes, grouped them and glued on paper.
Children had free play and snack time. They then went down to bike room to play with bikes, wagons and scooters.
Week of October 30th
The morning started with prayer. After prayer we read a story—“Big Red Apple”, by T, Johnston. The activity for the day was making Halloween ghosts where the children glued cotton balls onto a blank cut-out of a ghost and glued eyes and a mouth on the face.
After the activity the children had free play followed by snack. The morning ended by playing in the bike room which helps the children develop their large motor skills.
Week of October 23rd
This week we began with a prayer and we read the story “Minerva Louise at School”, by Janet Stoeke. After story time, the children did a painting activity using lego bricks and toilet paper rolls which they dipped into paint and made designs on paper. The children then had free play and snack, followed by the large motor activity in the bike room.
Week of October 16th
The children started the day by saying a prayer. We read a story, “Fall Leaves”, by Ellen Senisi. After story time, the children went upstairs for a craft activity. They glued leaves on to a paper plate to make a Leaf Wreath. The children had free play followed by a snack. After snack the children went to the bike room for the large motor activity.
Week of October 9th
As we begin our second week, the children will begin with a prayer. We will listen to the story, “I Went Walking”, by Sue Williams. We will learn to identify colors by sorting and using small motor skills to group together pom poms. We will share a snack, play together in the classroom and use the ride-on toys in the bike room.
Week of October 2nd
This week begins our first class. We will start out with prayer and a story, “Who Am I?” We will learn each other’s names. We will identify our own names by putting stickers on them. We will begin playing and socializing with our new friends in the classroom and the bike room. We will also share a snack.
