Week of April 19, 2021
This week we will celebrate the letter Z and our alphabet will be complete!  We will reinforce letters giving each child various opportunities to identify letters in words and stories.  We will continue to practice our Word Families. What is heavier? We will use a scale to balance two objects and discuss what is heavier. We will continue to celebrate Earth Day on Thursday with a Scavenger Hunt Nature Walk from our school yard. Jesus is our Good Shepherd, Jesus continues to help his friends. 

Week of April 12, 2021
This week we will learn about the letter Y and Earth Day. We will learn and discuss how to make good decisions when we will learn what makes the Earth happy. In Religion we will listen to the story of how God created the earth, as well as, the Golden Rule, how we should treat other people.  Each child will reinforce counting while stringing pasta noodles, practicing our fine motor skills. Our class will continue to learn Word Families, we will review -at, -an and introduce -ad words. 

Week of April 6, 2021
This week we will learn about the letter X, the number 16 and semi-circles. We will talk about our feelings and why we feel the way we do. We will talk about how Jesus’ friends felt when they got to see him again after Easter Sunday. Each child will plant a seed and will learn the different things plants need to grow.  In our Scholastic we will learn how wind can blow Dandelion seeds and how these seeds grow into new plants.  Our class will identify things the wind can move. 

Week of March 29, 2021
This week we will learn about the letter W and number 17. We will also learn about Holy Week and the ways we will celebrate this special week.  We will walk over to church for Stations of the Cross and learn how this leads us to  Easter Sunday and the Resurrection of Jesus.  Our class will continue to learn about spring and look around for signs outside of our school. We will make Easter bunnies and use colorful paper, we tear, to make colorful eggs and paint flowers. 

Week of March 22, 2021
This week we will learn about the letter V and number 15. We will also learn about Palm Sunday and how the people were excited to welcome Jesus; much like we feel when someone special comes to visit us. We will also learn about Easter, and the Resurrection of Jesus.  Our class will continue to learn about spring and look around for signs outside of our school. We will make Easter bunnies and use colorful paper, we tear to make colorful eggs. 

Week of March 15, 2021
This week we will be very busy celebrating both St. Patrick’s Day and St. Joseph’s Day. We will learn about the letter U and number 14. We will color a rainbow and talk about all the colors before following directions about what goes above the rainbow and what is under it.  We will be stringing beads both counting them and stringing them in color patterns. As a class, we are going to build a Leprechan trap and hopefully catch a Leprechan in our classroom.  We will talk about carpenters and the things St. Joseph may have made when Jesus was a little boy. In our Scholastic, we will learn about shadows and will look for our own shadows when out on the playground. 

Week of March 8, 2021
This week we will learn about the Letter T and number 14.  We will continue to read Dr. Seuss books and celebrate Wacky Wednesday. In Religion we will understand that we are part of the church and we are called to share what we learn about Jesus.  We will share what St. Patrick taught us when we make a shamrock representing God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit.  Each child will practice organizing objects in size order small to large.  Each child will color their March booklets, as well as, work in Scholastic Magazine.  

Week of March 1, 2021
This week we will learn about the letter S and celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday.  We start off the new month of March making a lion and lamb craft to go along with the saying, “March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb.”  Throughout the month we will read books by Dr. Seuss and incorporate them into our lessons and crafts.  We will also review our story telling activities from last week so we can share and retell the stories, “The Mitten” and “Where is the Dog?” with our parents at home.  In Religion this week we will continue to learn about Lent and the importance of praying. 

Week of February 22, 2021
This week our class will learn about the letter Rr and words that begin with the letter sound. We learn about position words when we color and read our “Where is the Dog? book.  Each child will also paint their own purple heart at the easel and work in small groups completing puzzles.  Our 5 Senses book will be completed when we finish learning about our senses of smell and taste. In our Scholastic Magazine we will learn about astronauts and their special skills.

Week of February 15 2021
This week the children will be introduced to the Lenten season.  We will have a prayer service on Wednesday and begin to prepare our hearts for Easter. We will read the book “The Mitten” and complete activities to go along with the story.  The children will learn about the characters in a story and sequence the events that take place. In Scholastic, we will learn all about our Smiles and dental health. 

Week of February 8, 2021
This week we will learn about the letter Qq and prepare for Valentine’s and President’s Days. We will learn about Abe Lincoln and his life as a young boy in our Scholastic Magazine.   Each child will make a craft of Presidents Washington and Lincoln in preparation of President’s Day.  In our Gospel this week we will hear the story of Jesus healing the man of leprosy and discuss how much Jesus loves us.  We will make a Valentine craft stating “Jesus loves us all”. Each child will use a number line to identify numbers before and after numbers 1-10.​

Week of February 1, 2021
This week we will celebrate Catholic Education Week! The children will participate in fun activities all week. We will begin the week by learning about jobs our parents do at work. We will watch as parents Zoom into our classroom sharing their jobs. On Wednesday we will go to the Chapel for a prayer service followed by a tour of the chapel. The children will learn about various items in the chapel. On Thursday we will wrap up our week riding our bikes at the annual “Trike- a -thon” for St Jude’s Hospital. In between all of these fun events, we will make valentines for our friends and family. 

Week of January 25, 2021
This week our class will learn about the letter P and number 12. We will be moving like penguins and reciting poems.  We will move the arm of a clock to identify numbers 1-12.  We will measure objects using counting blocks. The children will learn that Jesus wants each of us to be Peacemakers, we will talk about ways we are kind to others and pray to the Holy Spirit.  While learning about the sense of touch each child will paint a picture using colored ice cubes. 

Week of January 18, 2021
This week our class will learn about the letter O and number 11.  We will make a Snowy Owl puppet and learn about arctic animals and how they adapt to living in the cold climate. We will see a lot of circles in our crafts this week and will learn a circle poem. The children will continue to practice shapes, rhyming words and matching upper and lowercase letters.  This week's Gospel story has Jesus calling his first followers by name. We will learn that we are each special to God and He knows us each by name. Our class will learn the importance of our sense of sight and use our eyes to see the world around us.

Week of January 11, 2021
This week we will learn about the letter Nn and words that begin with the initial sound. We will continue to practice recognizing our numbers 1-10 using various games and activities. The children will be very busy painting and they will have opportunities to cut using scissors both making crafts and sorting letters. We will continue to practice patterns, sorting and rhyming words. In our Gospel reading, we will learn that Jesus meets his new friends, Andrew and Simon, Peter, and invites them to follow him.    

Week of December 14, 2020
This week the children will learn about the Letter Mm and words that start with the “M” sound.  We will review letters A-M both upper and lower case.  The children will light the pink Advent candle on their wreaths and continue to learn about the true meaning of Christmas. We will participate in a school prayer service, including the songs we have been singing and practicing.  We will learn the difference between what we want and what we need while reading our Scholastic Magazine.  We will use bright colors using crayons and watercolors to make Christmas pictures to share, as well as reviewing patterns using two and three colors to create our own Christmas patterns.

Week of December 7, 2020
This week our class will learn about the Letter Ll and number 10.  We will continue to celebrate Advent and prepare for Christmas by learning about the Angel and the shepherds that were at the Nativity.  Each child will paint a gold star using a stencil.  We will practice organizing snowy Christmas trees in size order, as well as, continuing to practice cutting with scissors.

Week of November 30, 2020
This week we begin Advent and start to prepare for Christmas Day.  Our class will learn about the letter K and number 9 through various crafts and activities.  We will begin to make our own Nativity Scene by coloring each of the important people that were in the stable on the first Christmas night.  This week we will learn about Mary and Joseph and how they took care of Jesus when he was a baby, each child will color in a picture and put them in their stable. We will also make a Santa craft and read Christmas books. 

Week of November 23, 2020

This week we will celebrate Thanksgiving at a prayer service with our school friends.  We will review letters As-Hh, as well as, numbers 1-8. The children will practice opposite words and complete Thanksgiving patterns.  We will begin to look forward to Advent by making wreaths and learning about the 4 candles.  We will practice reciting Thanksgiving poems to share with our families. 

Week of November 16, 2020
This week our class will learn about Letter Jj, number 8 and writing our names using upper and lower case letters. We will continue to learn about Thanksgiving and why we celebrate this special day. We will make a turkey, work on our “We are Thankful” book and make pilgrims.  We will learn that your size does not determine how much you can help others. We can all do little kindnesses that make Jesus happy. 

Week of November 9, 2020
This week our class will learn about Letter Ii, number 7 and writing our names using upper and lower case letters. We will continue to prepare for Thanksgiving making crafts and talking about things we are thanking God for this year.  The children will use both water colors and finger paints this week.   We learn that we are all special and God loves each of us. In our Scholastic magazine we celebrate Veterans and learn what makes them brave.

Week of November 2, 2020
This week our class will learn about the Letter Hh, number 6 and simple patterns. We will start the week holding our school Presidential Election.  This week we will learn that we must always keep our hearts ready for Jesus by being kind to others.  Everyone will use counting bears to make simple patterns that we will share with our friends. We will identify Hh words and practice identifying both upper and lower case letters. The children will also make a turkey using various shapes and colors.

Week of October 26, 2020
This week our class will learn about the Letter Gg, number 5 and simple patterns.  We will learn about words that begin with the letter Gg and paint ghosts and make a goose.  We will identify the number 5 and find things grouped in 5. The children will be given the opportunity to make easy patterns using two colors. We will prepare for All Saints Day by learning about saints and what made them special in God’s eyes. 

Week of October 19, 2020
This week our class will learn about the Letter Ff, number 4 and that God gives us laws. We will discuss rules and why they are important.  We will learn about pumpkins throughout our curriculum this week. Each child will complete activities introducing the letter F, both upper and lower case. Each child will draw a face on a pumpkin.  We will read stories about pumpkins, count pumpkins and organize them by size: small, medium and big. The children will also have the opportunity to see and touch the inside of a pumpkin while learning the names of its parts.

Week of October 12, 2020
This week our class will learn about the Letter Ee and number 3.   In our Seeds we will recognize different ways we can care for God’s creation.  We will observe leaves on trees and all the beautiful colors. Each child will have the opportunity to paint a leaf, as well as, make a sun catcher.  We will continue to practice rhyming words and reciting our October poems.

Week of October 5, 2020
This week the Pre K class will begin our first full week together as a class!  We will learn about St.Francis of Assisi and his devotion to all of God’s creations especially animals.  We will discuss how we can show our pets and animals that we love them.  The fire truck will drive by our school on Tuesday and we will continue to learn more about fire safety through our Scholastic Magazine, crafts and Math activity.  Our Letter of the Week is the letter Dd, the children will practice writing the letter and identifying pictures that begin with the letter.  We will introduce rhyming words through poetry and stories.
