Mommy and Me Weekly Activities
Week of Nov 26th
The morning began with free play followed by prayer and a story. We read the book Bob Einstein by Jule Aigner-Clock and nursery rhymes. They also copied single body movements. Next, the children put different colored pomp oms in bowls to match colors. This activity helped with fine motor and color recognition. We then went to the bike room for large motor play. Week of Nov 12th We began the morning with free play. Then we said a prayer and read a story. We read the book, Little Spider”. After story time we talked about turkeys—what they looked like and what they do. We pretended to be a turkey by flapping our arms and saying gobble, gobble. They we did an activity about shapes. The children glued different shapes to match the shape drawn at the top of the page. After activity time, the children went to the bike room for large motor play. Week of Nov 5th Children arrived and played for 10-15 minutes. We then said a prayer and read a story. The book was “A Children’s Zoo” by Tana Hoban. We sang some songs and nursery rhymes. After this we did an art project. The children had their hands traced to make a tree outline. Then they glued colored pomp oms on the tree. When they finished their projects, we went to the bike room for large motor play. Week of Oct 29th The children arrived and had free play. Then they had prayer time and a story. We read the book Eek! Halloween! by Sandra Bagnton. After story we sang nursery rhymes. The children then did a project where they made ghosts by gluing cotton balls onto a ghost cut-out, and glued faces on the ghost. We then went to the bike room for large motor play. Week of Oct 22nd When the children arrived, they had free play followed by prayer and story. We read “Where’s Spot/” by Eric Hill. After story time, we had a science lesson where the children looked at different leaves---for color, size and how they feel. They also observed a pine cone and fine needles. We then did some nursery rhymes. Following these activities, the children did an art project where they glued red paper squares on an outline of an apple. Then we went to the bike room for large motor activity. Week of Oct 15th The children arrived and had free play. This was followed by prayer and story time. We read the story, “Baby, Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See?” by Bill Martin/Eric Carle. After sotry time, we sang songs and nursery rhymes. Then the children made leaf wreaths by gluing a variety of leaves on paper plate circles. After doing their projects, the children went to play in the bike room. Week of Oct 8th When the children first arrived they had free play. After playing, the children said a prayer and then we read a story: “I Went Walking” by Sue Williams. Then the children sang some songs. After story and song time, there was an art project. The children glued brown eye squares on a paper plate to make a brown bear with ears and a nose. We had a fire drill and went to the assigned station outside. When we came back, we went to the bike room for large motor play. Week of Oct. 1st This was the first day of class. After meeting and introductions, the children had Prayer time. Then we read a story: “Itsy Bitsy Spider” and sang the song. After story time, the children did an activity. They put stickers on the letters in their names. Then we went to the bike room for large motor play. |
